Learning strategies
I have learnt skim reading in the class and it helps me a lot. This method makes me read the main points instead of reading the whole article. Then I can save a lot of time to read more books in a short time.
I like to read the subtitles of an article before reading its content. Sometimes I find out that there are words in the subtitles that are unknown to me. So I will look them up in the dictionary. And I feel that if I know all the words used in the subtitles, then I can understand the meaning of the each paragraph very quickly.
I like to make my sentences longer when I am writing. But sometimes I will have trouble with words that I don’t know how to spell. Dictionary is really helpful when I have this kind of problems. So I will have a dictionary next to me when I need to write something. Sometimes, Yahoo online dictionary helps me a lot too because it lets me know how to express some Chinese words in English.

Presidential election
Mr. Hsieh spends too much time insulting the other candidate Mr. Ma. I don’t think Mr. Hsieh has done a lot of constructive works to run this campaign. For example, he keeps saying something bad about Mr. Ma’ s families, but they are not important because they have nothing to do with Mr. Ma himself. I think he should talk more about what he will do if he is the new president. And I also think that Mr. Hsieh’s doing and saying are different. At first, he said it’s ok after he knew that the four legislators went to his main office. But the next day, he wanted the four legislators to say sorry about this event. He changed his mind very quickly.
Mr. Ma has a lot of wisdom because he never says something bad back to Mr. Hsieh when Hsieh does that. He knows that stopping criticizing each other is the best for the campaign. I appreciate Mr. Ma because he is the person who cares about his body health very much. As we know, he never stops jogging every morning no matter how busy he is. It also means that he is a very responsible person. So if he is the new president, he will try to do his best at work.

I think I’m a good communicator in our class because I feel like exchanging ideas with other friends in class is interesting to me. There are many times that we have different opinions from each other. At that time, I like to express my ideas again and again to my friends to make sure they understand why I think like that. Teachers tell us that respecting others is very important. When I explain my ideas to other friends, I always remember to let them know that I respect their ideas too. I don’t think I need to make my friends say that my ideas are the best. When we need to do something together, we can share good ideas with each other. It will be like that I learn from my friends and they learn from me as well. Communicating is something I like to do a lot among friends.

HUM

In the very beginning, she was very childish and thought that she was the only perfect young writer in the whole world. That was a little stupid for her to think that way because starting writing from high school is not actually a unique event. For example, we have to submit lots of essays as homework so we can be writers too. I think that she spent too much time feeling sad about not being the unique high school writer. However, at the end, she finally waked up from her broken dream.
I think she is kind of cool because she has finished the whole book as a result. And I feel that she is even cooler to stop having the impossible thinking.
